Welcome to the 2nd installment of the Ivy Granger series.

Where the 1st book was more of a fleshing out of the main characters, this book continues on with more depth and Ivy becomes the kick ass heroine that I love to read about.

You also get to see Jinx, her trusty sidekick, blossom some more.

I also like the fact that more supernatural characters show up in this book. Lamia, faerie queens, demons, and many others. Some of the visitors aren’t written about very often and it’s nice to see some new players on the field.

Ivy has found out the seriousness of faerie bargains and what happens when you are half fae and aren’t in control of your powers.

In this book, she starts the quest to find the one person who can help her control her wisp powers and gets thrown into the frying pan.

I also enjoyed the continuation of the romance between Ivy and Ceff.

I give Ghost Light my 5 Stars rating for continuing action with some lightheartedness thrown in the mix. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it and read it in about 3 days.

EJ Stevens is becoming one of my favorite authors and I am looking forward to the next books in the series.

Negitives plot remains very derivative, (Can you say October Daye?). In addition, this book spends too much time after the successful resolution of the story wandering around. On the positive side Stevens has a pleasent way of writing which is engaging and fast paced. The world Ivy lives in still lacks depth and substance. Remains a pleasent afternoon spent reading.
Another great book in this fun series. I would highly recommend this series to those who love a well written, entertaining story containing all types of fae. Now I'm off to buy book 3. Well done!!
Stevens does it again, normally the second book in a series suffers from the sophomore slump, but this kept my attention as much as the first. I'm happy to see there are more books to put on my kindle. Purchasing them now!
The story just keeps getting better and better with each book. Ivy finding out more about herself is hard for her but the way that she deals with it keeps you turning the page to see what will happen next. This series is one that I have to read the next book as soon as I finish one.

I like this series because it's great escapism, good writing, and there are always twists and surprises. This installment lets the reader get to know the regular characters a lot better. The publisher's blurb is somewhat informative this time.
I was absolutely delighted to get it as Whispersync on the cheap, and Traci Odom does really fine audio interpretation.
I enjoyed this second installment as much as the first. The writing is very well done, the narrative flows, the characters are likeable and believable, and they interact consistently and well. The plot is well thought out and develops throughout the book, with enough twists and turns to keep my interest. There is a lot of magic, adventure, and action, all very nicely described, but not boringly so. A resounding success, and I look forward to the next installment. I am a big fan of supernatural entities and mythology, so I very much like that aspect of this series. I like quite a few of the characters, especially Marvin - who speaks broken English and at first one assumes he is the "stupid troll" trope, but is actually quite intelligent and creative in his solution to help Ivy.

What I felt was a little strange about this book was the feeling that it should have been two novellas, or had two parts to it. The story really climaxes in the middle, and in the following chapter, the author gives us a recap of what we just read, as if it were the next book in the series.

That first half is fast-paced and interesting, but resolved very quickly. The second half of the book is anticlimactic and feels strangely disjointed, bits and pieces of what could have been woven through that first half of the book to create better pacing.

I've already bought the next book in the series and I'm hoping it doesn't suffer from the same issues.
